Imran Khan Will Be Replaced in Next Five Days; Who Will Be the Next PM?

The tussle between Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan and Pakistani Army Chief General Qamar Javed  Bajwa has intensified in the last few months and news from Pakistan is that this tussle will lead to a replacement of Imran Khan as a PM of the country in the next five days.

Islamabad, Pakistan

News coming from Pakistan suggests that finally, Imran Khan will have to leave the position of the country’s Prime Minister. For the last few months, the tussle between him and the army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa has now reached its peak, and as everyone knows that in the Pakistan army’s word is always final, and the Pakistan army is now ready to deliver its verdict.

The last straw in this entire struggle is considered to be the decision on changing of the guard in Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI. Imran Khan wants the incumbent ISI chief Lt Gen Faiz Hameed to continue, but Bajwa wants him to be replaced with Lt General Nadeem Anjum.

This tough stand taken by Imran Khan has not gone well with the Pakistan army and its chief and finally, they have decided to remove Imran Khan from the office of the Prime Minister of Pakistan. As per sources quoted by an Indian media house, Imran has been given two options.

Either Imran has to resign on his own on or before 20th November, the day when the new DG (ISI) will take over the charge, or he will be forcefully replaced by the Pakistani parliament. So, whatever happens from here it is sure that Imran Khan will not be the Prime Minister of Pakistan post 20th November, and that falls after 5 days from today.

According to reports two of the main allies of Imran Khan’s Tehreek-e-Insaf, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Pakistan Muslim League (Q) will withdraw their support from the government and hence the Imran government will fall on the floor of the house and later a new Prime Minister will be sworn in from a different political party.

Brother of the former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Shahbaz Sharif (Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz), and son of the late Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, Bilawal Bhutto (Pakistan People’s Party) are considered to be front runners to take over from Imran Khan.

But, a few months back Pakistani media and also some of the analysts in India were of the opinion that the current foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi is the first choice of the Pakistan army to replace Imran. If that happens then one would believe that both MQM and PML(Q) will not withdraw their support from Imran’s Party as Qureshi is a member of his party.

What do you think about changing of the guard in Pakistan. Tell us in the comment section given below.
