Along with the rest of the nation, the vaccination drive for school-going children aged between 15 and 18 has started in Gujarat. The Chief Minister of Gujarat Bhupendra Patel started the special drive from GDM Konawala high school in Koba near the state capital Gandhinagar.

Early this morning the CM reached the school and had a formal conversation with students who were getting vaccinated. The state government has started the special drive for vaccination for school-going children from today and it will continue till the 7th of January 2022.

Those parents who want their kids to be vaccinated at their nearest Urban Health Centre can register their children’s details on the cowin.gov.in portal. Most of the schools in Ahmedabad and other mega and small cities along with towns of Gujarat have also started this drive in various schools.

In some of the schools, the students were welcomed by putting a tilak on their forehead as per Hindu rituals before getting vaccinated. Required social distancing is maintained during this vaccination program and students were also taken to a special post-vaccination room for a few-minute observation.

Apart from raising special vaccination centers in various talukas of Gujarat, the health department of the Gujarat government will also make the parents understand the need of their children to get vaccinated to make the fight against corona stronger.

During the weekend most of the schools in Ahmedabad have sent the format of consent letter for vaccination to the parents of students. Those parents who want their children to get the vaccination at their schools will be registered on spot and will be vaccinated there and then only.

Each school will allocate 3 rooms for the entire process. One room will be for the registration, the second for vaccination, and the third for observation.
