This Movie is kind of a debut for me too as a Movie Reviewer! I can say that I have been a Bollywood fan since you can say from 2008 as I watched my first movie in the theatre was Golmaal Fun Unlimited. From the age of 14, I started to understand Bollywood movies and after lockdown I understood that either they make the same movies, or they remake it from South or From old movies. But now lets focus on Satyaprem Ki Katha

Cast- Kartik Aaryan, Kiara Advani, Gajraj Rao, Supriya Pathak Kapur, Anuradha Patel, Siddharth Randeria, Shikha Talsania and Rajpal Yadav(Special Appearance)

Produced By- Sajid Nadiadwala, Warda Khan Nadiadwala and Kishor Arora

Written By- Karan Shrikant Sharma

Directed By- Sameer Vidwans

Run Time: 146 minutes

The Story:

Sattu Aka Satyaprem(Kartik Aaryan) is a good hearted but good for nothing guy as he’s jobless, falls in love with Katha(Kiara Advani) when she was in an event and wishes to marry her but he feels she’s way out of her league because Katha was the daughter of a well known businessman. But his dreams unexpectedly come true as he finds one day Katha’s Parents in his house. As both get married but after the marriage, Sattu discovers an unwanted truth from Katha which makes him change for Katha. Will Katha And Satyaprem live happily together or they will be separated? Now, Lets move on to the review.

The Review:

For me, Satyaprem Ki Katha is a fresh movie which is a complete mixture of Quirkiness, Good One liners, Excellent Drama and A Unique ROMANTIC FILM with 2 great twists!!! Especially Second half is the winner for me. This movie has social message, A Father-Son bonding, Importance Of Society and great family message too. 1st Half is entertaining and it’s fast paced but the second half is kind of slow and not that engaging  as the first half but it contains a great twist which makes it interesting.

Performances:

A good Family entertainer requires great performances from not only the main 2 leads but also from the supporting cas which are the families. In Satyaprem Ki Katha, Both Families prove it as everybody were Elegant in the movie but let’s first start with the leads.

  • Kartik Aaryan Has Been my favorite actor as after Akshay Kumar. And I became his fan after watching SKTKS(Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety) Here as Sattu, He feathers one more remarkable performance in his cap. His Quirky Dialogues One Liners Wins Your heart. As a Gujarati his and everybody else’s Gujarati Accent was top notch. Also you will find his(maybe yours too) favorite dialogue “Problem Kya Hai?” Dialogue here too. In Short, he is the highlight of the film.
  • Kiara Advani Especially In the second half and in the whole movie is the soul of the film as she shines bright in the second half. I still remember a scene where she’s getting panic attacks and in that scene she was outstanding as she and Kartik both carried the film in the 2nd
  • Gajraj Rao and Supriya Pathak Kapur As Kartik’s Father and Mother are absolutely fitting in their roles as Gajraj Rao and Kartik’s Scenes together are funny and their both one liner’s against each other are good too. The Father-Son Bonding in this movie becomes emotional too in the second half. I don’t know why but I found HANSA always in Supriya Pathak as there comes a scene where I saw a photo of Hansa in Supriya Pathak’s room as I found it funny. But as I said, both were great as the parents of Kartik Aaryan
  • Shikha Talsania As Kartik’s sister didn’t have much big role in the movie but she did her part well as Kartik’s Sister
  • Talking about Siddharth Randeria as Kiara’s Father felt like what I saw him in Plays And Gujarati Movies it did felt great but what I saw was a different Siddharth Randeria. He had a serious yet funny performance in the movie as Kiara’s Father. Also when the movie started, In the opening credits it said, “Special Appearance- Siddharth Randeria” but after watching the movie, It felt like He had a good and great role in the film as it didn’t look like a Special Appearance.
  • Anuradha Patel as Kiara’s Mother had a short role with some dialogues as she supported well in the film.

Positives/Negatives

Let’s Start with the Negatives. The negative point of the movie is that It deserved a better ending like the makers just made it weird. Another negative point of the movie is Rajpal Yadav’s appearance as there was no need of him in the movie. It felt like an EXTRA actor with some UNWANTED scenes. It would have been better if they could have added some quirky conversations of Gajraj Rao and Supriya Pathak or Kartik Aaryan, as the role of Rajpal Yadav made the film out of context. These were some negatives for me in the film

The main Positive thing in the film for me is the Background Music and Locations of the film. The locations which are Ahmedabad, Vadodara(Laxmi Vilas Palace) every location was beautiful as it looked also It was an honor to see Atal Bridge in the movie and Riverfront too. Also as I said it before, Everybody in the movie spoke Gujarati on point as if we see movies we see that they would rather speak gujarati with their original accent but here they all speak gujarati top notch which is too a positive. Songs of the movie are quite good especially “Aaj Ke Baad” “Gujju Pataka” and extended version of “Aaj Ke Baad”. These 3 are my favorites(PS- Won’t talk about Pasoori Nu as you all know nowadays). Dialogues of the film will make you Laugh, Cry, Serious(As a watcher). Another Positive thing is the twist which comes in 2nd half and the message it gives makes it Limelight of the film. I think this movie will stay long in People’s Mind.

Conclusion:

Satyaprem Ki Katha is a romantic, funny, serious family entertainer which has great twists with a good social message. As when the trailer came people were expecting it to be a TYPICAL romantic family movie, But it proves wrong on a high note!!!

I would give 8 stars out of 10 as I was not satisfied with Film’s weird/cold ending. Do watch this Family Entertainer in Cinemas Near You.
