Abolishing Article 370 is valid: Supreme Court Verdict

The Supreme Court of India gave a historical judgment on 11th December 2023 on abolishing Article 370. The article gave a special status to the current union territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

Through this judgment, the Apex Court also rejected the pleas that challenged the decision taken by the parliament of India. A five-judge bench comprising the Chief Justice of India, Justice YV Chandrachud and Justices Sanjiv Khanna, Sanjay Kishan Kaul, Surya Kant, and BR Gavai have unanimously given this verdict.

The court has also directed the central government to hold elections in these two union territories.

Dheeraj Sahu raids: Rs. 355 crore cash recovered so far from Congress MP

The income tax department still raids the properties linked with the Congress Rajya Sabha MP Deeraj Sahu. The raid has entered day 6 on 11th December 2023. As per reports published in various news websites, the recovered cash till now by the Income Tax officers has crossed the Rs. 355 crore.

The raids have been done on Odisha-based distillery group charged with tax evasion. The income tax department is carrying out the raids on nine locations in Odisha, Jharkhand and West Bengal. This has been the biggest cash recovery by the IT department in the history of independent India. The previous such recovery was Rs. 257 crore from Kanpur in 2019.

Meanwhile, the Congress party has distanced itself from its own MP. AICC general secretary of communications Jairam Ramesh has posted on X that Deeraj Sahu can only explain and should explain how huge amounts of cash have been reportedly unearthed by Income-Tax authorities from his properties.

Shoe hurled at Pinarayi Vijayan’s convoy

KSU activists threw shoes at the special bus carrying the Kerala ministers at a sad event at Kothamangalam. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan also warned those who hold this protest against the Nava Kerala Sadas.

This warning has come after the Kerala government cancelled its outreach programs for a day after state CPI secretary Kanam Rajendran’s death, and the bus was attacked after sadas events resumed.
